CONFIRMED: HABS WILL BE WITHOUT THEIR HEAD COACH FOR THE REST OF THE SEMI-FINALS

JUN 18, 2021  (16H00)      T. TADI
The Montreal Canadiens have suffered a setback. Habs head coach Dominique Ducharme has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and will be out for at least 10 days, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

While Dreger was the first to alert fans to the imminent report, multiple sources have confirmed that Ducharme tested positive and will miss Game 3 tonight. He'll be in quarantine for at least ten days, according to reports. On Friday, it was reported that Ducharme's daily COVID-19 test contained anomalies. More tests will be done ahead of Game 3 and the results have come back positive.

Though Ducharme was reported as the squad's only positive case, we can't say what this means for the rest of the team or close contact.

According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, Ducharme is fully vaccinated. He received both doses of the Covid vaccine, and the Canadiens were strictly bubbled in Las Vegas, permitted to be only in their hotel and the rink.

We await the information on who will take over behind the bench for the Habs.

The series is now deadlocked at one game each, and the Habs have home-ice advantage in the best-of-five series, with Game 3 slated to take place in front of 3,500 fans at the Bell Centre. The Quebec government increased the number of people allowed for this round after the Habs drew 2500 fans to the Bell Center in the first and second rounds of the playoffs. This increased to an extra 1000 spectators in the building, bringing the total number of fans in the building to 3500 for Game 3 and Game 4.

If the series requires it, the same number of fans will be permitted into the Bell Center for Game 6.
