BRAYDEN POINT IS NOW ONE OF THE MOST ELITE CENTERS IN HISTORY

JUN 22, 2021  (8H21)      T. TADI
Tampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point finds himself in a class of his own due to his dominant playoffs.

Point scored a goal and an assist in the Bolts' 8-0 win over the New York Islanders in Game 5 on Monday night, extending his goal streak to eight games. It was the second-longest Stanley Cup playoff goal streak in league history.

Point has now registered 13 goals and five assists in 16 playoff games, but his playoff excellence goes even further back. He became the third center in NHL history to score more than 12 consecutive playoff goals (2020 and 2021), joining Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

The 25-year-old also scored the ninth most goals ever in a player's first 60 playoff games.

Only two players on this list are not Hall of Fame members (Reggie Leach and Kevin Stevens).

If the Lightning does manage to win their second straight Stanley Cup, Point will receive high consideration for the Conn Smythe Trophy. However, his teammates Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy have arguably been just as valuable to the Lightning as him so far.
