ZACH HYMAN ON HIS WAY TO EDMONTON ON A 8 YEAR DEAL

JUL 22, 2021  (0H03)      L. HONEIN
Zach Hyman of the Toronto Maple Leafs met with the Edmonton Oilers earlier on Wednesday.

The Leafs are unable to afford Hyman, who is allegedly seeking a long-term contract worth more than $6 million per year.

However, according to Johnston, the Maple Leafs are considering a sign-and-trade for Hyman, which would let the 29-year-old to sign an eight-year contract.

Expect an official announcement of the deal for both clubs after the trade freeze lifts at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday, with the Leafs receiving a draft pick in return.
