REAVES HAS BEEN TREATED LIKE A KING BY THE KNIGHTS COMPARED TO FLEURY

AUG 3, 2021  (8H33)      T. TADI
Remember that last week, we reported that the Vegas Golden Knights management traded veteran goalie Marc-Andre Fleury to the Chicago Blackhawks. (for... nothing!)

We then learned that no one from the Golden Knights thought to tell Fleury about the trade and, according to The Athletic's Jesse Granger, Fleury found out about it on Twitter at the same time as the fans.

According to his agent Allan Walsh and TSN reporter and insider Bob McKenzie, the veteran Quebec goaltender was really shaken up by the deal to the point where he questioned his career.

He really wanted to stay in Vegas and didn't expect to get a Twitter notification from a reporter saying he had been traded when he woke up last Tuesday.

Everyone agrees that Fleury hasn't necessarily been treated the way he deserved since goalie Robin Lehner arrived in Vegas.

Now that the dust is starting to settle again, a statement from Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon (which may seem trivial) has caused a stir in recent days.

As we reported to you, Rangers management announced last week that they had acquired the NHL's toughest brawler, Ryan Reaves from the Vegas Golden Knights. In return, they gave a 3rd round pick in 2022.

Here's what McCrimmon had to say following the trade:

"This was the result of an accumulation of several different discussions we had with Ryan over the past few days. We agreed and talked at length about what would be best and what would make the most sense for Ryan and his future..."

It would have been nice if goalie Fleury had gotten the same treatment, or at least a heads-up before a reporter got involved.

Marc-Andre Fleury, 36, just won the Vezina Trophy and has 1 year left on his contract at an average salary of $7 million.
