CORY CONACHER BANNED AND FINED BY SWISS ANTI-DOPING AGENCY

AUG 4, 2021  (13H35)      T. TADI
This one is a bit odd. The anti-doping agency in Switzerland has suspended and fined former NHLer Cory Conacher for taking insulin. Insulin isn't illegal, but Conacher didn't ask for permission to use it.

Conacher was reportedly banned for three months and fined 2500 Swiss Francs (just under $2800 USD). He accepted the punishment and applied for insulin. Awaiting his return on May 5th.

Diabetic Conacher uses an insulin pump when not on the ice. He was eight when he was diagnosed.

Starting with Tampa Bay, Conacher went on to play in the NHL for 193 games, before returning to Tampa Bay for a second stint. He's also played in the AHL. The 31-year-old forward had 28 goals and 75 points in the NHL.
